Can you get unemployment if a home health agency cannot find a case for you?

I've worked for the agency for over a year but this fall i started school which meant i could only work weekends. I have been calling my supervisor every week since i began school but haven't been offered anything and its been two months, can i file an unemployment claim, and if not what resources do i have that will offer some short term financial help. I live in NYC.
